RV Site Checklist

Use this as a repeatable checklist. It is organized in the order you actually need it: before booking, on arrival, at setup, and at departure.

Before you book

• Usable pad length versus your total rig length, including the tow vehicle if you cannot unhitch.
• Back-in or pull-through, and whether you can execute it in that loop.
• Hookups: full, water and electric, electric only, or dry.
• Amperage: 30A or 50A, and whether you need an adapter.
• Pad surface and slope.
• Slide-out clearance on the correct side.
• Awning clearance and afternoon sun direction.
• Overhead branches.
• Access road grade, switchbacks, and any low clearance.
• Dump station and potable water locations.
• Max vehicles per site and generator hours.
• Cell coverage if you need it.

On arrival, before you park

• Walk the site on foot first. Every time.
• Check the pad for soft ground, rocks, and hidden stumps.
• Confirm hookup positions relative to your connections.
• Note low branches at rig height, not eye height.
• Identify your leveling direction before backing in.

Setup

• Level side to side, then front to back.
• Chock wheels before unhitching.
• Test power with a surge protector or tester before plugging in.
• Connect water through a pressure regulator.
• Sewer hose supported with a downhill slope.
• Deploy slides, then check clearances again.
• Awning out only if the wind forecast allows; retract before you leave camp.
• Set up the outdoor rug and chairs where they will not block the neighbor's view.

Daily

• Check tank levels.
• Check tire pressure before any travel day.
• Secure loose gear before wind picks up.
• Note quiet hours and generator hours.

Departure walk-around

• Slides in, jacks up, awning retracted and latched.
• All hookups disconnected and stowed; caps on.
• Steps in, antenna down, vents closed.
• Fridge and interior latches secured.
• Chocks removed - the most common one to forget.
• Full lap around the rig, looking up and underneath.
• Site left clean: fire out and cold, trash out.
